National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was originally founded in Shanghai in 1896 under the name of Nanyang College. It shares the same origin as the Jiaotong Universities in mainland China. In 1958, NCTU was re-established in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and has been the forerunner of science and technology.
