Proving what you’ve achieved on FutureLearn courses is now even easier. Many courses that start on or after 9 May 2016 will offer a new Certificate of Achievement alongside the existing Statement of Participation. This is a more detailed record of what you’ve achieved on a course, with more rigorous eligibility criteria.
As well as all of the detail previously displayed on Statements of Participation, Certificates of Achievement come with an accompanying transcript of learning.
This transcript details the learning outcomes and syllabus for your course,plus your average test score, making it ideal evidence of your continuing professional development (CPD), or your interest in and understanding of a subject. The Certificate will also contain the detail of any accrediting or recognising institutions associated with the course.
To buy a Certificate, you must complete over 90% of the course and achieve an overall average test score over 70%.
FutureLearn are also introducing varying prices on Statements and Certificates, in order to offer you a better range of choice. Statements of Participation will be available from £19.00 (GBP) + shipping, and Certificates of Achievement from £39.00 (GBP) + shipping.

Earlier this week, edX announced that they will discontinue the free honor course certificate. They have said this move is aimed at strengthening their certificate program.

In the blog post announcing this change, edX assures learners that “all of edX’s high-quality educational content, assessments and forums will continue to be offered for free, but those learners who want to earn a certificate upon successful completion of the course will pay a modest fee for a verified certificate.”

Like Coursera, edX has also launched a financial assistance program for those students who can’t afford to pay for the verified certificate. But there is one big difference: Coursera’s financial assistance program provides the certificate for free, while edX’s program offers a 90% discount.

MOOC platform FutureLearn have launched their new digital Statements this week.

Statements of Participation now include a digital version. Rather than being a downloadable PDF, these digital versions take the form of a webpage on the FutureLearn site, each with its own unique URL.

The Statements can be shared with friends or employers via social media or email; added to your LinkedIn profile or included in your online CV.

A digital version of every Statement you buy will now be included on your FutureLearn profile, so you can collect all of your achievements across many courses in one place. You can also share each Statement directly from your profile.

If you’ve already bought a printed Statement, FutureLearn will have given you a digital version.

FutureLearn have also revisited the design of the printed counterpart, making a visual coherence between both versions.

The new design utilises the FutureLearn steps identity in such a way that multiple Statements can be tiled together to form an ever expanding visual representation of your achievements and learning with us.

The printed version uses premium quality paper and is printed with a security pattern watermark to prove its authenticity.

N.B. The price of FutureLearn's Statements has gone up to £34 (GBP) + shipping for courses courses that start on or after 31 August 2015. If you’re taking a course that started before that date – or you’re eligible for a Statement on a course that’s already finished – FutureLearn will honour the old price until 1 December 2015 (£29 (GBP) + shipping.)
